Donation of three GCS-200 mechanical demining platforms featured on Swiss TV news

Swiss news Tagesschau featured our three GCS-200 demining platforms which will shortly be on their way to Ukraine to save lives and create safe environments for civilians rebuilding their livelihoods on soil currently contaminated by landmines and other explosive remnants of war (ERW).

Demining is - as correspondent Natascha Schwyn explains - complicated, expensive and dangerous - but with remote-controlled mechanical demining machines, operated by trained deminers from a distance of up to a kilometre, the process is not only safer, but up to a hundred times faster.

Our technology, undertaking meticulous survey and elimination operations to the highest international standards, with service and maintenance support across the three years of this latest Swiss donation, represents significant value for money in the critical mission to demine Ukraine.

In the interview, GCS Ukraine General Manager acknowledges that of course, more machines are needed, but each one restores life to Ukraine.

David Nauer, SRF correspondent for Ukraine, Russia and the Caucasus underscores the positive impact of the donation, despite the undeniable scale of the task: “Switzerland is supporting Ukraine in demining. This is good, because mines regularly kill and injure people in Ukraine, including civilians…it will take many years, if not many decades, before Ukraine is mine-free.”
