Last week GCS CEO and co-founder Philipp von Michaelis participated in a panel session entitled “Strengthening Integrity” for this year’s Swiss Investigation Forum organised by Deloitte in Zürich. The Swiss Investigation Forum is a peer-to-peer platform for professionals working in Risk, Compliance, Investigations and tackling Financial crime. Key to the forum is the experience and know-how of guest speakers who each bring a unique perspective to the topic.
In the case of GCS and Philipp in particular, this experience has been global and happily has found our industry – demining solutions which eliminate explosive threats, including landmines and other explosive remnants of war world-wide – to be highly motivated to prevent corruption. As one of the first companies to invest in Ukraine after the outbreak of war, while others were withdrawing investment, GCS has demonstrated commitment and integrity, as we have in Iraq, Colombia and worldwide in areas afflicted by landmine contamination and other explosive remnants of war.
Modern technologies must nevertheless keep pace to combat financial crime and ensure security, something which Her Excellency Iryna Venediktova, Ukrainian Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein underlined during her speech to the forum. The Ambassador also called for continuing international cooperation and more active use of international mechanisms to combat illicit financial flows that contribute to aggression against sovereign countries, including Ukraine.
