Ashley Williams and Wayne Lomax presenting latest IED findings near Mosul, Iraq

We were delighted to participate as subject matter experts in the 8th EOD online workshop last week, organised by the NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence.

Participants comprised the entire professional EOD community -  scientists, people working in the field of training, execution, development and research (at operational, tactical and strategic levels), and companies dealing with the EOD and C-IED products.

This workshop looked at remote controlled and autonomous technologies as emerging applicable tools for EOD. Participants also discussed current and foreseen challenges in the EOD environment, as well as best practices within a spectrum of responses to EOD incidents.

GCS Head of GCS Operations, Ashley Williams started our presentation, ‘Close Encounters in  the IED World’ with an a brief introduction to the company. Technical Advisor Wayne Lomax, who is based in Iraq took the participants through one of our more unique clearance operations, where searchers came across a very unusual multiple lined main charge IED, and described the teams response to the incident. The presentation concluded with a Q & A session with Ashley and Wayne.

The NATO EOD COE expressed its appreciation and positive feedbacks from the audience, GCS is looking forward to further enhance its dialogue with the Centre of Excellence and the relevant subject matter experts.
