Despite the challenges presented by the unprecedented pandemic situation, GCS was successfully granted full Operational Accreditation from UNMAS and was awarded a further UNOPS/UNMAS project for explosive ordnance clearance operations in Mosul.
As a result of the Corona outbreak, some GCS staff members were not able to return home and had to quarantine in-country. Senior Technical Advisor Paulo Dias stayed on in Colombia - offering a helping hand to those most impacted by the crises.
In recent years GCS has become increasingly active in areas where conflicts have not entirely come to an end. Staying on the ground in such situations comes with a certain element of risk – and it is a decision that GCS does not take lightly.
