The 28th International Meeting of Mine Directors and United Nations Advisers (NDMUN28), which concluded last week, saw governments reiterate their commitment to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention and Cluster Munition Convention.
Wholeheartdly supporting the commitment, GCS works tirelessly to carry out the Conventions's declared aims, which have seen the clearance of hundreds of square kilometres of contaminated land. Every day, we contribute to the destruction of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW), the implementation of risk education and deploy innovative schemes for cooperation and assistance, such as the rental model of demining financing in Ukraine.
Our contribution - both at the Conference as well as the Ukraine Mine Action Partner Coordination Workshop beforehand - marks our commitment to demonstrate the role of inter-agency cooperation with public-private partnerships, such as the most recent partnership between GCS, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and The State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
