Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) thanks the Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft for their kind invitation to present at their “Doing Business in Ukraine” networking event yesterday at the Haus der Deutschen Wirtschaft in Berlin.
While many foreign companies have suspended business activities and investment since the start of the war, GCS decided in February 2022 to proactively develop the Ukrainian market. Our CEO Philipp von Michaelis had the valuable opportunity to share with the audience our impressions and lessons learned from entering the Ukrainian market:
⚡ Our commitment early on has been extremely well received by Ukrainians
⚡ While things take time and obstacles arise, Ukraine continues to function, especially Kyiv
⚡ A network of local partners is essential, but one has to remain agile and not become dependent during times of rapid change and upheaval
⚡ GCS can share our key learnings, including the importance of in-country presence with local personnel - in our case led by Ukraine General Manager Dmytro Salimonov - as well as considered selection of service providers from legal and financial partners to security companies
⚡ Ultimately, the commitment from top management to invest long-term has paid dividends, with GCS established to provide Ukraine with active and sustainable support in the recovery and reconstruction process
