We are proud to share the news of our win in the "Partnership for Sustainability Award 2024" in the Peace category!
The award ceremony, held yesterday in Kyiv, was an excellent opportunity for us not only to share our experience but also to learn about other important business initiatives. It was especially gratifying to receive the award from Stefan Kossof, UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Development Director for Ukraine.
This prestigious international award, initiated by the UN Global Compact Ukraine, recognises the collective efforts of businesses, governments, and civil society aimed at creating a better future. It brought together over 500 cases from businesses and NGOs across Ukraine, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Croatia, Poland, Georgia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey. This emphasizes the importance of shared values such as human rights, sustainability, and development that align with the principles of the civilized world.
Our winning case, focused primarily on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal Life on Land, represents a significant step in contributing to a better future, the rebuilding of Ukraine, and the promotion of responsible business practices. UN SDGs are designed to protect the environment, solve social challenges and promote peace.
The challenges for demining in Ukraine go beyond the technical or practical. The administrative and financial challenge has emerged as crucial. Financially, international support is essential: farmers cannot afford to demine their land, and had resorted to clearing their own lands, with tragic consequences. The solution required called for true cooperation.
Having established an office in Ukraine in 2022 and as the first commercially-accredited demining company in Ukraine, leading humanitarian demining solution provider Global Clearance Solutions were uniquely able to coordinate and put in place machines, deminers and teams of trainers thanks to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development’s donation within the aegis of the DEG Impulse develoPPP programme.
The impact of the donation has been multiplied with each partner providing according to ability and the pressing need. Project partners NIBULON, Ukraine’s leading grain exporter, were able to continue payments to their leaseholders – ordinary Ukrainians - under the country’s unique landholding structure, providing crucial income to local communities to help them survive while demining took place.
Our heartfelt thanks go to our team, our partners NIBULON and develoPPP, and the award orgaizers for this recognition!
