GDELS–Mowag contract won by GCS

In July, Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) was awarded a major contract as the main supplier of General Dynamics European Land Systems–Mowag (GDELS–Mowag) for military engineering attachments. The contract is part of the procurement for the renewal of the Swiss Armed Forces’ 8x8 engineering vehicles. It was awarded following extensive quality assurance measures and industrial expertise and represents a very important milestone for GCS.

In this procurement, GDELS–Mowag has been contracted to supply Switzerland’s Ministry of Defence with 60 new PIRANHA IV vehicles, replacing the now-dated M113 tracked armoured personnel carriers. GCS will provide GDELS–Mowag with a standardised interface for all front-mounted attachments.

Each vehicle will be mounted with a customised vehicle integration kit, Quick Coupler Adapter (QCA), Dozer Blade and additional supporting equipment. In addition, the deal includes 24 Dozer Blade Manipulators (DBM), fitted with advances such as a modern camera system to help identify and manipulate explosive threats.

“Collaborative teamwork and engineering ingenuity have led to the creation of a range of tactical equipment fully capable of facing a variety of threats and challenges,” says Kevin Kneebone, GCS’ Head of Business Development.

Earlier this year, the company launched these attachments at Eurosatory, one of the world’s premier defence and security trade shows. Pilot production of these attachments and additional hardware are marked to begin this November, while delivery of the mentioned order is scheduled for 2025.
