GCS was delighted to host Jörg Marxen from MTSC Global as a guest speaker for a recent EOD/IEDD workshop held at the production site in Stockach, Germany.
Jörg Marxen brings a wealth of EOD/IEDD experience from conflict and post-conflict countries and has served both in the German Army and the German Police Force. After providing a company presentation and factory tour, Hagen Fischer (GCS Head of Product Development) handed the floor to Jörg.
He began by giving the participants a more in-depth look into the different types of landmines, UXO (unexploded ordnance) and IEDs (improvised explosive devices). Drawing on his extensive experience in the Middle East and Africa, he gave an overview of the latest IED trends and greater insight into the current Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) applied in the field. This was followed by a practical session which looked at our GCS platforms, their attachments and tools. The participants discussed how GCS hardware and technology can be optimally applied in a variety of scenarios (such as route clearance or vehicle-borne IED scenarios).
On the second day of the workshop Jörg, staff from our engineering department and senior field technicians took a more detailed technical look at GCS hardware and support equipment and defined what specific Render Safe Procedures (RSPs) could be additionally integrated into the two GCS platforms for a variety of missions.
GCS would like to thank Jörg for sharing his insights with us and for making this workshop so highly informative and interactive. We hope to welcome him back in the near future!
