Explosive contamination remains a risk for communities in and around Kyiv that were affected by occupation in 2022. As recovery progresses, targeted clearance is required to restore safe access to land and enable rebuilding activities to continue.

In May 2025, Global Clearance Solutions Ukraine confirmed a pro bono clearance project in Irpin, reinforcing its ongoing support for local recovery efforts. An agreement to carry out the work was signed at Irpin City Council between Dmytro Salimonov, General Manager of GCS Ukraine, and Andriy Kravchuk, First Deputy Mayor of Irpin.

Survey and clearance planned for summer operations

Under the agreement, GCS specialists will survey and clear approximately 3.1 hectares of land in Irpin during the summer period. The work will be carried out using GCS multifunctional mechanical clearance platforms, supported by trained local teams and established operational procedures.

Survey activities will inform task planning and determine the appropriate clearance methodology, ensuring that operations are conducted safely and in line with recognised mine action standards.

Supporting local priorities through cooperation

The project reflects close cooperation between GCS Ukraine and the Irpin community, with clearance priorities defined in coordination with municipal authorities. By undertaking the work on a pro bono basis, GCS supports early recovery initiatives while longer-term clearance programmes continue elsewhere.

Local engagement and trust are essential to effective mine action. Collaboration at municipal level enables clearance to be aligned with community needs and planned land use.

Clearance as a foundation for safety

Removing landmines and other explosive remnants of war is a prerequisite for restoring safe movement, rebuilding infrastructure and supporting civilian life. Through continued engagement in Irpin, GCS contributes to reducing explosive risk and enabling safer conditions for residents as recovery progresses.
