Operations & Field Service
Maintaining the readiness and reliability of deployed clearance systems is essential for armed forces operating in high-threat environments. In January 2019, the German Army initiated the regular overhaul of its current fleet, delivering the first of seven complete systems to Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) facilities in southern Germany.
The systems were originally delivered in 2010 and 2011 to provide the German Army with a dedicated counter-IED capability for the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. Deployed between 2011 and 2014, the platforms were used to support route clearance and combat engineering tasks in an operational environment characterised by improvised explosive device threats.
As a longstanding partner to the German Army, GCS has supported the fleet through multiple maintenance and support contracts. Building on this established cooperation, GCS is carrying out the scheduled overhaul of all seven systems through to 2022. The scope of work covers the complete platforms, associated tool attachments and the supporting workshop infrastructure required for sustained operation.
The overhaul programme is designed to restore system reliability, extend service life and ensure continued operational availability. It forms part of GCS's broader military support offering, which combines platform expertise with maintenance, repair and overhaul services for explosive threat mitigation systems used by armed forces and government customers.
Through this programme, GCS contributes to the long-term readiness of the German Army's clearance capabilities by providing structured lifecycle support based on operational experience and indepth system knowledge.
