GCS launches Professional Services: modular vehicle integration for combat engineering and clearance

Modern combat engineering and clearance operations require vehicles that can be adapted quickly to changing tasks and threat environments.

Modern combat engineering and clearance operations require vehicles that can be adapted quickly to changing tasks and threat environments. Rather than relying on fixed configurations, operators increasingly need modular engineering solutions that extend vehicle utility while maintaining protection, mobility and operational flexibility.

In response to these requirements, Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) introduced its Professional Services product segment, focused on modular, front mounted engineering capabilities for protected vehicles.

A modular approach to vehicle adaptability

The Professional Services segment is built around the principle of modularity and scalability. Our Professional Services enables protected wheeled and tracked vehicles to be upgraded with task specific engineering tools, allowing a single host platform to support multiple mission profiles without permanent modification.

At the core of the concept is the GCS Quick Coupler Adapter (QCA). The QCA provides a standardised mechanical interface between the host vehicle and a range of front-mounted attachments. It is designed to be adaptable to different vehicle categories and scalable according to vehicle weight and operational requirements.

This approach allows engineering assets to be integrated efficiently while preserving flexibility across fleets.

Engineering attachments for multi-role tasks

Through the QCA interface, vehicles can be equipped with a range of engineering attachments to support tasks such as:

  • minefield breaching and clearance

  • scatterable and surface-laid mine clearance

  • counter-IED support activities

  • anchoring and earth-moving tasks

One of the key SES components is the Dozer Blade, which can be combined with the Dozer Blade with Manipulator (DBwM). The DBwM is designed as a multifunctional attachment, enabling a single system to perform multiple general military engineering tasks depending on configuration and use.

This modular setup supports rapid task switching in the field, reducing the need for dedicated single-purpose vehicles.

Integration into military vehicle programmes

As part of the portfolio, GCS is supplying the Quick Coupler Adapter (QCA) as a standardised interface for front-mounted attachments to General Dynamics European Land Systems - Mowag (GDELS-Mowag). The solution covers integration of the QCA, Dozer Blade and Dozer Blade Manipulator across relevant vehicle variants.

The system was developed and validated through several rounds of testing conducted jointly by GCS, GDELS-Mowag and the Swiss Armed Forces. These tests focused on ensuring compatibility with operational requirements and on validating performance against current and anticipated engineering challenges.

Deliveries under this programme are planned across the 2023-2026 timeframe.

Engineering capability, not standalone hardware

The Professional Services segment reflects GCS's broader approach to capability development. Rather than offering isolated components, SES is designed to integrate:

  • vehicle interfaces

  • engineering attachments

  • system testing and validation

  • long-term service and support

  • This ensures that engineering solutions are deployable, maintainable and adaptable over the full operational lifecycle.

As the Product Development team at GCS, notes, this portfolio illustrates the practical application of modular design, enabling multifunctional engineering tools to be deployed efficiently across different mission contexts.

Through this segment, GCS expands its support to military and governmental users requiring flexible, vehicle-based engineering capabilities that can be adapted to evolving operational demands.
