Operations & Field Service
Operations in explosivehazard environments require more than technical expertise. Medical preparedness is a critical element of operational safety, particularly for teams working in remote or highrisk conditions.
In September, Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) conducted refresher medical training for its Operations teams in Ukraine, including personnel involved in Provincial Explosive Awareness and Reporting (PEAR) training activities.
Maintaining fieldlevel medical preparedness
The threeday programme covered first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The training was delivered by GCS's in-house medic and certified trainer, ensuring consistency with operational requirements and field realities. Certification is valid for one year.
Regular refresher training ensures that personnel remain prepared to respond effectively to medical incidents that may occur during clearance, training or assessment activities.
Medical training as part of operational quality
Medical preparedness forms part of GCS's broader approach to operational quality and duty of care. Alongside technical training and procedural discipline, medical readiness supports safer working conditions for teams operating in environments affected by explosive contamination.
This standard applies across GCS activities, including Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) and PEAR training, where personnel frequently work with municipal authorities and civilian stakeholders.
Supporting sustained operations in Ukraine
Since establishing an in-country presence in 2022, GCS has developed bespoke, adaptable training programmes aligned with Ukraine's operational environment. These programmes are designed to be practical, scalable and costeffective, supporting long-term engagement rather than shortterm deployment.
Feedback from municipal leaders and partners continues to underline the importance of professionalism, consistency and preparedness in training delivered under challenging conditions.
By maintaining high standards of medical readiness alongside technical and operational capability, GCS supports safe, reliable field operations and sustained capacity-building activities across Ukraine.
