Unmanned Systems (UXS)
Sustained mechanical demining operations depend not only on equipment deployment, but on continuous training that ensures systems are used safely, efficiently and to their full operational potential.
In February 2024, Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) delivered refresher training for GCS-200 operators working with its Ukrainian partner NIBULON, supporting ongoing clearance activities in contaminated agricultural and infrastructure areas.
Maximising operational effectiveness in the field
The training focused on reinforcing best practice in the operation and daily maintenance of the GCS-200, a remotecontrolled mechanical demining platform used to process contaminated ground and reduce direct exposure of personnel to explosive hazards.
Refresher sessions draw on GCS's accumulated field experience and are designed to help experienced operators adapt machine use to changing ground conditions, task profiles and operational tempo. This approach supports faster, safer land release and extends system availability during sustained deployment.

Training as part of lifecycle support
Operator training forms part of GCS's broader service and aftersales support model. By working directly with Ukrainian operators, GCS ensures that mechanical clearance assets continue to deliver consistent performance over time and that lessons from field use are fed back into operational practice.
This handson engagement supports the protection of agricultural land, key infrastructure and surrounding habitats, enabling contaminated areas to be returned to productive use more quickly.
Partner and donor support
The clearance activities and associated training are supported by international partners. GCS acknowledges the contribution of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), KfW and DEG Impulse, whose support enables the continued clearance of landmines and other explosive remnants of war in Ukraine.
Through ongoing collaboration with partners such as NIBULON, GCS continues to support mechanical demining operations with a combination of technology, training and field support, ensuring that deployed systems remain effective under demanding conditions.
