Operations & Field Service
Effective explosivethreat mitigation depends not only on technology, but also on strong cooperation with trusted in-country partners. In October 2019, Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) brought together partners from across five continents for a two-day workshop at its manufacturing and integration facility in Stockach, Germany.
The workshop was designed to provide participants with deeper insight into GCS capabilities while creating space for structured exchange on market requirements, operational challenges and future collaboration. It also reflected the important role that local partners play in delivering clearance solutions in diverse operational environments.
Insight into platforms, production and support
The programme opened with a welcome address from GCS Chief Executive Officer Philipp von Michaelis, followed by a guided tour of the Stockach facility. Participants were given direct insight into current production and lifecycle support activities, including the refurbishment of current systems that have been in operational service for several years, as well as the assembly of GCS-100 and GCS-200 platforms for recent deployments in the Middle East and Africa.
Live equipment demonstrations formed a central part of the first day. GCS teams presented both multipurpose platforms and a range of taskspecific attachments in representative EOD and IEDD scenarios. One demonstration focused on the controlled removal of a suspect improvised device from a vehicle, illustrating how mechanical systems and procedures are applied in practice.
The handson format allowed partners to engage directly with GCS engineers, technicians and operational staff, gaining a practical understanding of system capabilities, support concepts and maintenance approaches.
Exchange beyond the technology
The workshop also created opportunities for informal exchange and relationshipbuilding. An evening programme on Lake Constance provided a setting for continued discussion beyond the formal agenda, allowing participants to share experiences from their respective regions and operating contexts.
The second day shifted focus toward commercial and operational cooperation. Structured discussions addressed regional market developments, customer requirements and regulatory considerations. Particular attention was given to how GCS supports partners through complex processes such as export control and lifecycle support, highlighting the nontechnical elements that are critical to successful project delivery.
Building long-term collaboration
The workshop marked the first in a planned series of partner engagement events aimed at strengthening cooperation across GCS's international network. By bringing partners together at an early stage, GCS seeks to align technical capabilities, operational approaches and market understanding in order to respond more effectively to customer needs.
The event concluded with a shared view that the workshop had provided practical value for all participants, reinforcing mutual understanding and identifying concrete opportunities for continued collaboration.
Through regular dialogue, technical transparency and shared operational focus, GCS works with its partners to deliver clearance solutions that are adapted to local conditions while meeting international quality and safety standards.
