On International Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action Day, Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) recognises the work of deminers and clearance professionals worldwide who reduce these risks every day. The 2024 theme, Protecting Lives, Building Peace, reflects a simple reality: recovery begins with safe ground.

This short film highlights why mine action is a necessary first step toward stability. It shows how explosive hazards affect communities, particularly children, and how clearance enables safe movement, access to land and the return of civilian life. It also gives voice to deminers working in affected areas, explaining what motivates them and why their work matters.

GCS supports humanitarian mine action by working alongside national authorities and partners to remove explosive threats safely and systematically. Through the use of remotecontrolled systems, local expertise, training and riskeducation activities, GCS contributes to reducing risk while protecting the people tasked with clearance.
