Global Clearance Solutions AG (GCS) has received official recognition from the Irpin City Council for its pro bono demining activities carried out in the Irpin community, part of the wider Kyiv region.
During a visit to the Irpin City Council, Oleksandr Markushyn, Mayor of Irpin, presented certificates of appreciation to deminers from Global Clearance Solutions Ukraine, acknowledging their contribution to making land safe for civilian use.
As a result of the clearance activities, five hectares of land in the Irpin community have been declared safe. The area represents the first officially demined site in the community and is designated for the construction of a hospital that will include a mental health facility for veterans.
The demining work forms part of GCS's broader operational engagement in Ukraine, where the company supports humanitarian mine action through mechanical demining systems, trained personnel and locally established service and maintenance capacity.
Dmytro Salimonov, General Manager GCS Ukraine, commented on the recognition:
"Clearing land for civilian use is central to recovery at community level. This project demonstrates how demining directly enables essential infrastructure and services to be restored."
Through its operations in the Kyiv region and elsewhere in Ukraine, GCS continues to support national and local partners in addressing the risks posed by landmines and other explosive remnants of war, contributing to safer access to land and infrastructure.
