Global Clearance Solutions AG (GCS) has received operational accreditation as a demining company in Ukraine, authorising the company to conduct a full range of humanitarian mine action activities in the country.
The accreditation covers:
Technical Survey (TS)
Non‑Technical Survey (NTS)
Battle Area Clearance (BAC)
Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE)
Manual Demining
With this accreditation, GCS is authorised to conduct mine action operations in cooperation with Ukrainian government institutions and international donors, supporting efforts to reduce risks from landmines and explosive remnants of war and to restore safe access to land and infrastructure.
In Ukraine, organisations conducting clearance of unexploded ordnance and ERW must be accredited by either the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine or the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU). GCS completed the accreditation process under the oversight of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, following a structured evaluation of operational procedures, personnel, equipment and quality management systems.
The accreditation process included desk accreditation completed in October, followed by four weeks of preparatory training and a practical accreditation exercise conducted by Ministry of Defence inspectors. Field assessments covered survey methodologies, clearance procedures, quality assurance and adherence to approved Standard Operating Procedures.
The practical exercise included simulations involving engagement with local civilian populations, a critical component of Non‑Technical Survey, aimed at gathering information while ensuring the safety of communities and operators.
The accredited team comprised operational and support roles, including a National Operations Manager, Quality Assurance Officer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team Leader and Deminers, a Non‑Technical Survey Team Leader with Geographic Information System support, and medical personnel, all operating under field conditions.
Commenting on the accreditation process, Lourie Venter, Operations Technical Advisor at Global Clearance Solutions, said:
“Accreditation is about trust, discipline and teamwork. The team demonstrated the ability to operate safely and consistently under challenging conditions, which is essential for humanitarian mine action in Ukraine.”
The accreditation reflects GCS’s ongoing engagement in Ukraine and its alignment with International Mine Action Standards, supporting national efforts to expand clearance capacity and accelerate land release in a safe and coordinated manner.
