Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) has launched a dedicated service division to strengthen its activities in explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and improvised explosive device disposal (IEDD). The expansion responds to the increasing complexity of explosive threats encountered in conflict environments and in terrorist-related incidents.

The new service division builds on GCS's operational and technical expertise in explosivethreat mitigation and extends the company's offering beyond platforms and systems. It provides tailored EOD and IEDD training programmes as well as operational support for clearance and disposal activities. These services are aimed at law enforcement agencies, armed forces, humanitarian organisations and specialised security operators.

In parallel, GCS has expanded its capacity to plan and conduct clearance and disposal operations using established methodologies and appropriate equipment, supporting clients across governmental, military and commercial contexts.

Philipp von Michaelis, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GCS, said:

"The nature of explosive threats has changed significantly in recent years. Devices, tactics and operating environments are more diverse, and organisations need to adapt how they assess risk and respond. Our role is to support clients from the planning phase through to operational execution."

To support the expansion, GCS has strengthened its expert team with additional EOD and IEDD specialists. Among them is Marco Pohlers, who brings extensive operational experience in EOD and IEDD under highthreat conditions. A former member of the German Special Forces, he has been involved in multiple deployments in complex environments and in the development of procedures to counter improvised explosive threats.

"As scenarios involving explosive hazards become more complex, established approaches are no longer sufficient, Pohlers said. Effective risk mitigation requires updated procedures, technical understanding and close coordination between planning and operations."

Recent developments in countries such as Iraq, Syria and Libya, as well as attacks in European and other industrialised urban environments, underline the need for adaptable and professional EOD and IEDD capabilities. With the launch of its service division, GCS is responding by offering an integrated set of training and operational services to address these evolving requirements.
