Philipp von Michaelis, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Global Clearance Solutions AG (GCS), visited Kyiv as part of a delegation accompanying Robert Habeck, German Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
During meetings with Ukrainian government representatives, the delegation discussed economic recovery and reconstruction efforts in Ukraine, including the role of demining as a prerequisite for restoring safe land use and economic activity.
In discussions with Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Minister Habeck highlighted demining as an essential first step for national recovery. German support for demining activities was referenced as part of broader international assistance efforts.
GCS presented an overview of its activities in Ukraine, including the deployment of mechanical demining systems and the establishment of local operational capacity. The company outlined its ongoing deliveries of demining equipment and its support framework, which includes locally based specialists and an operational presence in Kyiv.
Commenting on the visit, Philipp von Michaelis said:
"Economic recovery depends on safe access to land and infrastructure. Agricultural production, in particular, requires fields to be cleared and returned to use. Our focus is on building local capacity and supporting sustained clearance operations through equipment, training and technical support."
The visit underlined the link between explosive threat mitigation and economic recovery, and the importance of coordinated international engagement in supporting Ukraine's reconstruction while conflict-related risks remain.
