Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) has appointed Ashley Williams, former Chief Executive Officer of Mechem, as head of operations, effective 1 October 2018.

Williams brings more than four decades of experience in mine action and explosive remnants of war mitigation. His appointment strengthens GCS's operational capabilities and supports the company's development as a full-solution provider across humanitarian mine action, EOD and related clearance activities.

Philipp von Michaelis, Chief Executive Officer of GCS, said:

"Ashley brings extensive operational experience from a wide range of mine action programmes worldwide. His background and perspective complement our organisation and support our ambition to further expand our operational footprint."

Williams' career includes 14 years in humanitarian and commercial mine action, following 28 years of service in the Engineering Corps of the South African Army. He has been involved in complex clearance projects in challenging environments and has worked closely with operators, authorities and partners across the sector.

Commenting on his new role, Williams said:

"GCS has strong technical roots in mechanical mine clearance and a team with deep operational experience. Building recognition in this market depends on people and performance, and the foundations are in place to further develop the GCS brand through successful delivery."

With this appointment, GCS continues to strengthen its operational leadership to support survey, clearance and disposal activities and to deliver integrated solutions across humanitarian and commercial mine action contexts.
